There are two bright orange sofas, two green single chairs, a big television etc. in Aliya’s living room.

The underused room in Aliya’s house is the living room.

One side of the wall was a huge mahogany cabinet with decorated glass doors.

It contains tiny memories of dad’s many travels around the world:

A young Arab boy riding a camel

A crystal Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, from Dubai.

A Maasai couple from Nairobi;

Eiffel Tower from Paris;

Ijambulo, the lion club, from South Africa;

Two hand-painted ostrich egg shells from Tanzania.

The pyramids and the Sphinx from Egypt.

The Tower Bridge and the bright red telephone booth from London.

The Statue of Liberty from New York and several others.

The mahogany cabinet is what Aliya’s father called his Museum of mementos.

Aliya’s mother contributed in adding the decorated plates she got from China.

Aliya also put the soft camel with a jingle bell that she bought when she travelled to Dubai some years before.

Aliya’s father did not like to eat in his room as it would leave the place smelling of food.

Aliya’s father favourite weekend breakfast is akara, bread and a bottle of coke.
