How to be considered for Admission in Nigeria Tertiary Institutions this 2020

All that sat for JAMB examination 2020 and obtained a total score of 160 and above will be considered for admission if the following are done:

  • The candidate must have written JAMB 2020 examination and must have seen or printed the JAMB Result Notification to confirm his or her score.
  • He/she must have scored 160 and above in the JAMB 2020 examination
  • The candidate must have written Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE). That is WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE or any other qualifying examination
  • He/she must have credited at least five subjects including English and Mathematics and other relevant subjects which corresponds with his or her prospective course of study
  • He or she must have the statement of result (online printout) or original certificate of his or her SSCE result
  • He or she is expected to upload his or her result on JAMB website

Note: If all these have been done, your chance of being admitted is very high. University Cut-off mark is 160, polytechnic is 120 while College of Education is 100.

What happens to candidates using awaiting result?

According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, he noted that with awaiting results will only be considered for admission when they have uploaded their SSCE on jamb website.

According to the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, JAMB and tertiary institutions could take advantage of the current situation and consider candidates with previous years Senior School Certificate Examination and other qualifying results, to proceed with the admission process.

When will 2020 Admission Process start?

The Minister of Education directed JAMB and tertiary institutions to proceed with the conduct of 2020/2021 admissions. The Minister also said that admission processes are expected to commence in August based on the guidelines released by JAMB.

When will 2020 Post UTME exercise start?

The starting date for post utme exercise for all institutions will be considered if the situation on ground, covid-19 is controlled. If reverse is the case, admission will be based on JAMB score and SSCE Grades.
