Nigerian Senate approves N30,000 (30k) or thirty thousand naira as new national minimum wage in Nigeria, when is the new minimum wage in Nigeria of N30,000 starting or taking effect – Officially, it has been announced, the long awaited approval of Thirty thousand Naira (N30,000) or (30k) has been approved as new Nigeria minimum wage and a mandated seventy-five thousand naira (N75,000) would be paid for any non-compliance to the new minimum wage.

We have been longing for this N30,000 national minimum wage to be approved for a very long time but today it has been approved by Nigerian Senate.

According to Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central), this approval was made by the Senate Committee on New Minimum Wage,

From his tweet on Thursday, the senator said, “The Senate Committee on New National Minimum wage met yesterday and approved the new national minimum wage bill; 30k as minimum wage and 75k as penalty for non-compliance.”

Deputy Majority Whip, Sen. Francis Alimikhena was appointed by the Senator as the acting chairman of the ad-hoc Committee on Minimum Wage.

The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, who made the announcement at plenary on Tuesday, said Alimikhena would work in an acting capacity while the Chairman, Sen. Olusola Adeyeye, was away on health grounds.

Saraki charged the committee to expedite action on the matter to enable the Senate catch up with the House of Representatives which had already passed the bill.

This is indeed a welcome development by all Nigerians but the question most of our viewers has been asking is this, will this new National Minimum Wage of N30,000 take effect. Though it will be of great help and motivation to everyone in the country.

Can all states in Nigeria meet up with this new N30,000 minimum wage

We all like this N30,000 minimum wage bill but the truth is that not all states can meet up. Though, is still possible for all to meet up if they work towards it. Not meeting up or non-compliance to this particular new implemented bill of N30,000 national minimum wage made the senate board to mandate the payment of N75,000 to all that may fail to comply.

When will this new N30,000 minimum wage take effect or start

According to the Senate board, the new national minimum wage is to take effect or start as soon as possible so that all Nigerians would know that Federal Government is really serious with it.

There is no specified date yet of when this new N30,000 minimum wage will start but we believe if they are really to start as they said, it may take effect by next month or upper one.
